While 5 implications for each 2nd and 3rd order is considered the “optimum,” it is not mandatory. There may be times where you, as a facilitator, believe that more than 5 are important. OR, there are times where less than 5 is adequate. We’ve done some explorations where only 2 implications are generated. What is important is to make sure you have both a positive and a negative implication.

Can a “Center” be focused on “not” doing something?

Yes, it’s possible but difficult. The very first exploration I conducted was focused on an organization “continuing to do nothing.”

What is the recommended number of participants for a team contributing?

The recommended “optimum” team size is 5. There’s a presentation in the Learning Depot that discusses the options for working with teams from 3 – 6 participants. NEVER have a team of more than 6 participants!
